Litigation Associate, Seema Ali, successfully defended G&I client, the Town of Irondequoit, in a jury trial before the Honorable Renee Minarik. The Plaintiff, in the case of Driscoll v. Town of Irondequoit, et al., Supreme Court, Monroe County, Index No. 7153/00, alleged that she was falsely arrested and subjected to a violation of her civil rights by a police officer employed by the Town and another police officer employed by another local municipality. Following trial, the jury determined that the officers' actions in briefly handcuffing and detaining the Plaintiff, in a case of mistaken identity, was supported by probable cause thereby dismissing the false arrest claim against each of the Defendants. The Plaintiff's civil rights claims were dismissed by the Judge upon motion following the close of the Plaintiff's proof.
